In the second part of the placement report, we look at sector-wise composition of job offers & profiles, day-wise composition of job offers & profiles and preferred sectors across departments & programmes. It is important to analyze the placement data of the previous years and draw inferences while one is preparing for placements. To quote Placements Advisor Prof. Babu, “Pre-final year students should look at the data as well as the inferences and strategize accordingly for their Placement.”
We present a detailed two-part report analysing the trends of the 2015-16 placement season, held in December 2015 and January 2016. This part of the report gives an overview of the placement scenario and unfolds the percentage of students placed, dependence on CGPA and the average number of job offers made.
GIAN is a new initiative of MHRD that aims to provide opportunities for Indian students to take elective courses offered by foreign faculty. GIAN courses are offered in niche areas, are very specialized and targeted at researchers actively working in that area. This article details how the students of IIT Madras can make the best use of this opportunity.
