Saarang 2023: Mystic Hues – Recap

After two long years, Saarang finally returned back to its wholesome offline splendor. Insti was teeming with stalls (ranging from food, apparel, hook step corners and many more), students from Chennai and beyond, and entertainment. Kicking off on the 11th of January and lasting till 15th, there was not a spot in Insti that was not busy.

The entire festive zone, stretching from the KV grounds, through Gajendra Circle to the CLT, were crowded with stalls by The Times of India, Summer, On the Streets of Chennai, Sony, Coca Cola, etc. Food stalls set up by companies like Mad Over Donuts, Fusilli Reasons, Brownie Heaven, IViL and many more had several delicacies to offer.

Competitive events galore during the entirety of Saarang like Panache, the flagship ramp walk event by the Fashion Club, Man vs Food, Snapshots and Top Chef by the Culinary Arts Club, Tarang, Alankar, Decibels by the Music Club, the Saarang Quizzes by Quiz Club including the legendary Saarang Lone Wolf Quiz, the Saarang JAM and STEW by Oratory Club, the Cryptic Crossie, Scrabble, Spell bee by Word Games Club, JEE (Jokes Everyone Enjoys) by Comedy Club, the Ramen Eating contest and Cosplay Contest by Nova and many more. World Fest performances by renowned international artists like the Manzo Soul, Neon Dreams and Subterranean Masquerade took place at the KV grounds during the day while Pro-Shows artists Sunidhi Chauhan for the Pop Night, Pineapple Express for the Rock Night, Kaaze for the EDM night, and many more, really made them nights to remember for life!

Saarang 2023 also had a great line-up of Spotlight Lectures. Singer Karthick, Actor Revathy, Journalist Palki Sharma, Anchor Suma Kanakala, Dr Tejaswini Manoghna, Art Director Savio Mascarenhas, Chennaiyin FC and Chef Sashi Chelliah with Manoj Padmanaban delivered insightful talks on their life, career and dreams.

Despite many people from the organizing team being people with little to none experience in hosting offline events of this scale, they fought through all kinds of challenges thrown at them, and have succeeded in making this festival a week to remember.
