Senate approves flexibility in project timeline for DD and MTech students

Uncategorized

In an smail on Saturday, December 9th, the AAS announced that the Senate has permitted flexibility in project period for DD and M.Tech students. Now, all students of M.Tech, DD and B.Tech are free to pursue internships at the end of the pre-final year.

Details of the change:

Timeline:
– M.Tech students can pursue internships at the end of the 2nd semester and do their projects from August 1st to June 30th.
– Dual Degree students can pursue internships at the end of the 8th semester and do their projects from August 1st to June 30th.

HTTA:
– For students who choose to begin projects on June 1st, HTTA is sanctioned up to May 15th.
– For students who choose to begin projects on August 1st, HTTA is sanctioned up to July 15th.

Why this is important: This marks a change from the existing policy by which M.Tech and Dual Degree students are mandatorily required to begin projects on June 1st, deeming it impossible for students of many departments to do industry internships at the end of the pre-final year. PPOs from industry internships are usually awarded to interns in their pre-final years, evidenced by the 114 PPOs offered to insti students this year.
